How to prepare Chicken Soup?

A Guide to preparing Chicken Soup:




Chicken soup is a classic comfort food that has been appreciated for generations. Not only is it delicious, but it is also easy to prepare and offers numerous health benefits. Chicken soup is the perfect meal for cold winter nights when you want something warm and comforting.

To prepare chicken soup you will need the following ingredients:

1 whole chicken (3-4 pounds)
1 onion, diced 3 carrots, diced 3 stalks of celery, diced 4 cloves of garlic, minced 1 tablespoon olive oil 10 cups water 1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: fresh herbs such as thyme, parsley or rosemary
How to prepare a delicious chicken soup:

Step 1: Prepare the chicken

Rinse the chicken under cold water and remove any giblets or other internal organs that may be in the cavity. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.

Step 2: Sear the chicken

Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add in the chicken and sear until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.

Step 3: Saute the vegetables

Add the chopped onion, carrots, celery, and garlic to the same pot you sauteed the chicken in. Sauté the vegetables, stirring occasionally, until slightly soft, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 4: Add water and bring to a boil

Add 10 cups of water to the pot and add a bay leaf and any other fresh herbs you want to use. Bring the water to a boil and reduce the heat to a simmer.

Step 5: Add the chicken

Once the water is simmering, return the chicken to the pot. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer for about an hour, until the chicken is cooked through.

Step 6: Remove the chicken and shred the meat

Remove the chicken from the pot and place it on a cutting board. Let it cool for a few minutes, then remove the skin and shred the meat with a fork or your hands. Discard the bones and any other unwanted parts.

Step 7: Put the shredded chicken back into the pot

Add the shredded chicken back into the pot and stir. Simmer for another 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.

Step 8: Serve and enjoy

Remove the bay leaf and serve the chicken soup hot in bowls. You can also add some crusty bread to dip into the broth.
